Waters upon the earth

07/14/2023

Team Blue,

My bet for talk of the town: 3” of rain at Twin Crix.

Blueberries? Loving it.

Every plant, every tree? Loving it.

Every bird, every beast, every creeping thing? Loving it.

This rain won’t erase the drought, not by itself. We were close to 8” short for the season coming in to the morning, and had received scarcely an inch in the past two months. But it is a reset of sorts. All the plants that have been biding their time in disbelief, eking out one more day upon the parched earth, have now been given a new lease on life.

I can barely find a puddle, and the crick rose hardly at all - every drop soaked in. Halleluwah.

Oh right, this is supposed to be a blueberry update!

I expect this to seriously amplify the currently building wave of blueberries. If you’re looking to pick a winter’s worth of blueberries, this next week is your time. Rows 2, 4, 5, and 7 are where it’s at.

Participation Opportunity Alert: We’ll be weeding the blueberries this weekend and invite you to join us at any time on Sunday from 11-2. This ain’t no stinkin’ volunteer opportunity - we’ll pay you in pick-your-own blueberries, three pounds per hour. Talk about a deal!

Drink it in,

Twin Crix
